Infusing Your Labor Day with Style

Often considered to be the “last hurrah” of summer, Labor Day weekend finds ladies everywhere with plans of lounging poolside, making one last trip to the lake, or hanging out at a family barbeque. With the peak of summer behind us and the the start of fall less than one month away (can you believe that?!), many are left to wonder what to wear in this weird, in-between-summer/in-between-fall time of year. How can you sport your favorite summer staples with an autumnal twist? I’ve put together some Labor Day-inspired looks, perfect for any holiday plans!

Polished Patriotic

Maxis are my favorite summer-to-fall dress! They’re extra long for additional coverage, but lightweight and airy enough to keep you cool in the late summer heat. If you’re tall like me, be on the lookout for maxis in extended lengths so that you can pair your dress with wedges. While I’m quite the bargain shopper, there’s nothing wrong with splurging on a nice watch to get the most wear for your money -- and no one does it better than Michael Kors! Add a bracelet or two to your arm candy, like this adorable Kate Spade bow bangle for a polished yet patriotic look, and finish up by styling your hair into a high top knot.

Black and White Casual

If a dress just won’t cut it, you can always opt for shorts. While it may be time to start packing away the cutoffs and denim, tailored linen shorts are the perfect transitional style. Look for a black lace pair, bow-tied trouser shorts, or scalloped cuties like the ones above and add a crisp, white blouse. (Unless you’re sporting head-to-toe white, forget that old adage of wearing white after Labor Day!) This neutral canvas gives the perfect opportunity to have fun with your accessories. I’m obsessed with these adorable Zigi Soho sandals -- they just have a fun, 1920s flair, don’t they?! Complete the look with a chunky bubble necklace, loose fishtail side braid and a natural-colored fedora.

Ladylike Labor Day

If your style is more boho-chic, you’ll be enamored with this flirty look, which is perfect for the typical girly girl. You may be thinking that it’s time to put away the crop tops until next year, but why not layer one with a lightweight, cap sleeve cardigan for some added coverage? After all, if you’ve got it, flaunt it (ALWAYS tastefully, of course)! If the crop top isn’t a good fit for your body type, choose a ruffly tank of similar shape. Roll some light washed denim at the ankle and pair with nude, studded smoking shoes and ladylike cat eye shades. Polish it off with loose curls or beachy waves and you’re ready for whatever the day may bring!

So, what are you up to this holiday weekend and what will you be wearing? How are you transitioning your favorite summer pieces to fall-worthy looks?

From Runway to Reality: Fall In Line with the Season’s Hottest Makeup Trends

Hopefully you relished the warm weather of summer, because the crisp fall temps are in the air. Waking up to a chilly 48 degrees in the morning, only to have the temps rise to the mid-80’s in the afternoon...WELCOME to fall in Indiana! While you may have just perfected your dewy summer makeup glow, it’s time to transition your makeup from summer to fall. When fall fashion was debuted on the runways this past spring, beauty experts were wowed as they debuted the following looks:

Fresh Faced, Natural Beauty

Iconic brand, Chanel, kept each of their model’s makeup looking natural and fresh faced, allowing their true beauty to shine through. To achieve this look, I suggest opting for the Make Up For Ever complexion starter kit to help give your skin the natural, almost airbrushed look. The kit provides a base primer, HD invisible cover foundation and an HD microfinish powder to help complete your flawless look. I finish this look with a blush that has a peach-base to it, such as NARS fan-favorite orgasm and a light pink or nude shade of lipstick. To go one step further, you could always create a bold brow using Elizabeth Arden’s famed Beautiful Color Brow Shaper.

Ladylike Chic: Matte Lips and Lined Eyes

During the Badgely Mischka show, models took the runway sporting a timeless ladylike look, featuring bold matte red lips, a flawless complexion and lined eyes. This look is personally one of my favorite looks. There’s just something about red lipstick, that when used properly, conveys an air of sophistication and grace. To achieve this look you can build upon the Make Up For Ever complexion kit using deep black eyeliner and heavy mascara. While I love eyeliner, not all products are created the same. My personal favorite is the Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner. After using this one time, I fell in love. You’ll love the bold color and ease of application. It gives you the appearance of using a liquid liner without the mess. After all, who has times to take everything off and reapply? Next up is another makeup favorite, Dior’s Diorshow mascara. This mascara truly gives you the swoon-worthy feathery lashes that look both lengthened and voluminous. Finish off this look with the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl and you’re well on your way to portraying this classic look.

The Sultry, Smokey Eye

During Donna Karan’s fall show, models donned a modernized dark smokey eye that gave each model a provocative, yet stunning look. I don’t know about you, but I’m always trying to achieve the perfect smokey eye when I have a chance to dress up for a night out. For me, its the perfect finishing touch! Be careful though, this look isn’t a good one for daytime.

To achieve this sultry look, first apply your eye primer of choice to help keep your eye shadow in place. My favorite has always been Urban Decay’s Primer Potion–not only is the packaging fun, but the product is amazing! To start your shadow layering, I suggest starting to apply your lighter shade to your eyelid, whether you are choosing a black/charcoal hue or tones of purple, and then lightly applying your darker shade from the middle to the outer corners of your eye. Trust me when I say, you’re not going to look like a raccoon, it just takes some practice to figure out which shades and shapes best flatter your features. (For a chart of shapes, see the image below.) Add a little of the darker shadow, or eye liner if you prefer, to your lower lashline and mascara and this look is almost complete. When wearing a smokey eye, always go with more subtle facial makeup and a less dramatic lip color – think a nude or neutral shade of your choice.

Take Fall Color Trends from Your Clothes to Your Toes

Since the release of the 2013 fall Pantone colors, the fashion world has been abuzz with designers trying to incorporate these colors into their fall lookbooks. Some fashionistas may be looking forward to purchasing a samba-toned sweater or emerald green skinnies, while others are left wonder how to incorporate acai-toned items and vivacious pink tones into their fall styles without looking too summery. Whatever your concerns may be with these new hues, you can still incorporate these colors in your wardrobe without breaking your personal piggy bank. It can be as simple as adding a new handbag to your collection, choosing a new eye shadow palette or picking up the latest shade of nail polish.

Cool Tones

The jeweled toned fall colors can be rocked as a pop of color in a statement piece, like a purse or a necklace, or used minimally as an accessory on your fingernails or toes. Regardless of how you choose to incorporate it, remember that cool tones elicit a calming affect and really can show off your laid-back mood. I am quite partial to the regal acai tone in this set...I wonder why?
Fall 2013 - Emerald
Fall 2013 - Linden Green
Fall 2013 - Mykonos Blue
Fall 2013 - Acai

Warm Tones

As fall weather starts to move in, you can bring in the heat with some sassier colors like the samba red, koi orange or vivacious magenta as seen below. Each of these colors elicit a passionate personality and a cheery demeanor. When choosing to add these to your look, wear with care ladies because they can be easily overdone.
Fall 2013 - Samba
Fall 2013 - Koi
Fall 2013 - Vivacious

Neutrals can be a girl's best friend and her worst enemy at the same time. When you pair too many neutral items together you can look drab, but when used in the right way it can be totally chic. Always make sure to incorporate a little color with your neutrals for a perfectly balanced look.
Fall 2013 - Turbulence

Fall 2013 - Deep Lichen Green
Fall 2013 - Carafe
Now that I've updated you on the latest fall colors to search for, which hues will you be incorporating into your fall style?

2013 Fall FashIN Preview Event Recap

Invitation to One Click Venture's Fall FashIN Preview
The fall season has always held a special place in our hearts. We get excited to break out comfy sweaters, stylish scarves, boots and of course the occasional hoodie or two. This fall, however, is especially exciting as we recently launched our blog and we were also invited to attend the Fall FashIN Preview at One Click Ventures – home of, and As a contract writer for the One Click brands, Kacie was excited to mingle with her fellow “co-workers” and I was happy to accompany her to get to know the ladies of One Click...and of course get a first look at the fall purses, scarves and accessories. Co-sponsored by Dottie Couture Boutique, the event also featured a selection of fall dresses, tops and jewelry, all exclusively available for purchase before their online and in-store unveiling.
Jaime & Kacie shopping the latest fall purses!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a smiling face that ushered us back to the area where the Fall FashIN Preview would be held. We donned our name tags, proudly sporting Regally Soled, and were off to mingle with fellow Indianapolis bloggers and check out the latest styles. After chatting and some particularly delicious hors d'oeuvres, all the ladies took a seat and listened to Janneane Blevins, curator and co-founder of Indy Spectator and event planner for Pattern meetups (@patternindy), as she discussed the integration of fashion and technology. As she spoke, she discussed how technology has made fashion available to everyone. Overall, a very inspiring lady! She’s helped make amazing strides for fashion in the city of Indianapolis.

After her presentation, we were released to circulate the many fun activity stations spread throughout the room. First, we were tasked with choosing our favorite pair of stylish Sunglass Warehouse shades and crafty supplies to take them from drab to fab. We opted for a perfect combination of glitter, pearls, and rhinestones (after all, a girl can never have too much sparkle!).

Hello Dottie Couture Necklace!
The next station had serious perks! Several handbags and necklaces were displayed, in need of fun names. Whoever had the most clever name got the item! Jaime was lucky enough to win an adorable gold and coral teardrop necklace which she aptly named “Samba Nights”. In fact, it she wore it today to the office! (Sidebar: Please excuse the Christmas cards in the background. Very soon, she’ll be able to replace them with this year’s!)While Kacie didn't win anything (boo!), she did get to meet her namesake, the Kacie. This cute little bag was even featured in People Style Watch Magazine. We always knew one day Kacie would be famous, even if she is just a purse. :)

Kacie and her namesake handbag!
After eyeing the mini-photo sessions taking place in the corner, and being told that we were to be interviewed, we decided to first get our makeup touched up by the fabulous makeup artist they had on hand. Prior to stepping into our very own photo shoot, we added Handbag Heaven bags that completed our look perfectly -- as well as our newly crafted sunglasses!

Exclusive fall preview sunglasses, scarves & handbags.
With a little convincing, we then headed over to another station that featured an on-camera interview (look out world, here come the ladies of Regally Soled), and were asked to describe our style. While we both love styling and accessorizing, we have very different clothing styles and were able to express on camera our fall favorites.

Last stop before heading home for the night was to purchase some scarves we’d been eyeing! Come on ladies, you didn’t think we’d leave empty handed? We both opted for The Jackie, a sellout item for the online retailer last year!

As the evening came to a close, we made a pit stop at the candy bar, and picked up our impressive goody bags stocked complete with a re-usable tote, courtesy of the IndyStar’s FruGal, as well as every fashionista's favorite, a mirror and other goodies from Sephora, BareMinerals and Macy’s.
Attendee Swag Bag

We’d love to thank the ladies of One Click for including us in this super fun evening! Even though we were new to the fashion blogging scene, we were welcomed with open arms, made connections with other local bloggers, and were made aware of other great blogging events taking place in our city. Overall, we’d say the the Fall FashIN Preview was a success and we look forward to the next event!

Style Definition: East Coast Meets West

We're super excited for the launch of Regally Soled, and the timing couldn't be better for our first post. There's a chill in the air here in Indy that's inspiring our favorite looks for fall. While we both have a passion for clothing and accessories, we also have slightly different styles. To introduce ourselves to our readers we thought we'd give a glimpse of our ideal fall attire.

Fall Set 2013 - Stripes and Jeans

Jaime's Style

Since I was a little girl, my mom always instilled in me to favor quality over quantity, and that carries over from clothing to accessories. It's kind of my motto that I not only apply to my wardrobe but to my friendships. When it comes to my style, I look for more tailored, classic pieces that also offer a modern flair. While I love summer, I look forward putting away the flip flops and accessorizing with boots and chunky sweaters. This look captures the overall essence of my fall style with the incorporation of black and white stripes (my signature print), figure flattering peplum tops, waist cinching belts, crisp blazers, and of course, my favorite Hudson jeans. Fall color palettes bring new opportunities to accessorize with bright handbags, adding the perfect pop of color to your look. Riding boots and David Yurman jewelry make for the perfect finishing touch!

Fall 2013

Kacie's Style

While I would love to value quality over quantity, I strive to get the most for my money. From clothing to accessories, it's my life's goal to find the latest trends at affordable prices. Jaime and I like to say that our styles vary in that her style is more 'New York' whereas mine is more 'L.A.' I wait literally all year for fall fashion, so you can imagine my excitement as I put together this look. I like to pair softer, more feminine pieces, like this ruffly floral blouse, with edgier pieces like the leather moto jacket above. Skinny jeans are a must for my fall wardrobe, and skinnies in colors like wine and mustard are no exception. I top it all off with chunky accessories like my Alisa Michelle bangle bracelet, a buckled bowler bag, and lace-up heel ankle boots.

As fall approaches, we hope we've given you some inspiration (or envy). Regardless of your style, just make sure it matches your personality. So, whose style do you identify with more? Are you a Kacie or a Jaime?

xoxo, Jaime & Kacie
