So I'm not inviting white rabbits in waistcoats to tea or singing a very happy un-birthday to you in my finest top hat, but I totally feel like the mad hatter in this look. From the peplum ruffled blazer to the feather embellished felt floppy hap, the mad hatter look was in full force my friends–if the mad hatter were female and dressed in super cute leopard shoes that is.

Alice in Wonderland references aside–when heading to a fun photo spot that Kacie and I recently found, we decided to reroute our plans and do a little private property trespassing to use this beautiful field for photos. We passed this place several times and commented that it would be perfect for blog photos and finally decided to give it a shot. The scenery definitely added more whimsy to this photos and incorporated some beautiful fall colors too! Along with this must-have feathered hat and wine colored top, I am loving the coated denim I purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I had a pair last year and they are sadly too big, so when I got these I was glad to see they were even better than the pair I had last winter.

Gotta jet ladies! I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date!

• Don't go overboard for the size of your porch. As you can see here, Jaime did a perfect job of decorating her cute little porch. While you can only see a small portion of my porch in these photos, it runs nearly the entire length of my house. Therefore, I went the whole nine yards.
• Don't spend a ton of money on your outdoor decor. Let's face it, this stuff is going to rot and will likely need thrown away at the end of the season. Believe it or not, I got (nearly) all of this stuff at either Walmart or Marsh and it was super inexpensive!
• Although it's perfectly fine if you are, I'm not much into Halloween. So, by going with a fall/harvest theme, I can leave most of these decorations up through the whole season. Or, do a combination of the two and take down your Halloween ones on November 1st.

Just when we thought overalls were merely a bad memory from our childhood, they began popping up all over the place as an up-and-coming trend. While the idea of strapping yourself into a pair now sounds completely terrifying, I'm here to tell you that it doesn't have to be. When I came across a pair of medium-wash distressed overalls during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I decided to jump right in a give them a try. Take a look at how I took one pair of overalls from day to night...

White is completely acceptable to wear after Labor Day in my book. That old rule of "no white after Labor Day" has become a thing of yester-year and fashionable ladies everywhere can be seen strutting their favorite neutrals after that quintessential end-of-summer holiday. I had been searching all summer long for a pair of white jeans that wasn't see through and let me tell you that is no easy feat. Let's face it ladies, it's definitely not a cute look to have your favorite undies seen by your co-workers.

I finally found these pants at Old Navy–on clearance for $12.00 may I add–and couldn't love them more. Okay, so the fit isn't perfect and the waist is slightly large, but let's be honest here, this girl is no stranger to odd fitting pants as I have a small waist and larger thighs. Apparently designers these days think most women are a size 2 and 7 feet tall, and tend to forget about us "curvier" girls. Ha! I knew when I bought these pants that they would be styled perfectly with this adorable Free People top. Can I just say this top is ridiculously comfortable and I kinda want to wear it everyday? The added lace peplum at the back and around the sides make for the perfect, waist flattering fit too!

As always the necklace was a last minute add and I totally forgot about adding any bracelets to the look. Sometimes simplicity trumps over accessories looks, what can I say.

I couldn't help but laugh at myself when I was coming up with this "clever" title. Polka dots and stripes apparently equate to the dotted lined in my mind. Oh to be in my head...it's a scary place let me tell you. There are thoughts just streaming in from nowhere that are complete nonsense to anyone but me. Ask Kacie, she'll tell you about my randomness.

On a fashionable side note–when shopping with a friend, I picked up this adorable polka dot blazer at Banana Republic Factory and couldn't wait for the weather to cool down so I could break this baby out. Well, lets just say it's mid-September and the weather feels more like October, and I still can't put away my tank tops and summer clothes. So basically what I'm saying here is that I wanna keep summer around, but am yearning for fall weather. I'm a walking-talking contradiction, what more needs to be said? Needless to say when I picked up this bejeweled top later at J.Crew, I knew the blazer and top would be perfection together. Enter one sleepy day after the Cancer Gala later, this outfit was busted out of the closet for a fun fall-inspired look.
