Taking Your Makeup From Summer to Fall

It's that (awesome) time of year when the weather starts to cool down and we begin to see fall fashion take over, and while boots and sweaters are great, it's important not to forget to transition your beauty regimen as well. What's the difference between summer makeup and fall makeup?

In the summer when the we're golden bronze it's hot and humid outside, we tend to wear lighter makeup. In the fall, it's time to go a little heavier to provide more coverage and darker shading for the cooler weather. Check out some of my favorite cosmetics and get a few tips for making the transition as easy as possible.

Fall Beauty Transition

First things first, skincare is of the utmost importance. After all, dry skin is not the best canvas for makeup (skin flakes galore, anyone?). Now is the time to transition lightweight lotions for heavier creams and cleansing body washes for more moisturizing ones. I love Philosophy's Hope in a Jar and C.O. Bigelow's Lemon Cream Body Wash.

- Foundation -
I know some people use liquid foundation year-round, but I just can't do it. When it's hot and humid, liquid foundation turns to makeup soup on my skin! I tend to use Bare Minerals loose powder in the spring and summer and Urban Decay's Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition liquid foundation is a great option for the cooler months.

- Blush -
Time to put away the peachy pinks and start brushing on darker shades of bronzy pinks to give your face more dimension as that summer glow begins to fade away. I love NARS blush in 'Sin' which is described as a shade of "berry with gold shimmer".

- Lips -
The bright pinks and punchy reds of summer will make way for nudes and darker berry shades this fall but of course, classic red is always acceptable. I absolutely love Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in the shade 'Enticing'.

- Eyes -
In my opinion, any smokey shades are good to go in the fall weather they are of the brown/bronzy or the coal and pewter variety. While my Urban Decay Naked eye shadow palettes are can't-live-without-em items, Sonia Kashuk's Eye on Neutral Shimmer 3 palette is a great buy for only $19 at Target!

- Nails-
While I love a good mint mani, I have to say that darker polishes are a favorite of mine. Polishes in shades such as burgundy, black, navy, and emerald are musts for the fall season. I'm loving OPI's Nordic Collection in the shade 'Viking in Vonderland' - it's gorgeous!
