Putting Your Best Face Forward

Finding the right skincare balance can be tricky especially if you don't really understand what type of skin you have. For years, I used products that targeted oily skin, when in fact my skin was very dry and overproducing oil to compensate for my lack of moisture. See what I mean when I say tricky?

Here are the products that I have found, and trust me, I've tested a lot to beauty products to get to where I'm at today. Visiting your local Sephora is a great way to get product recommendations, as well as three samples during your visit. I've totally used this to my advantage when looking for new products to be added to my regimen. Here is a rundown of my current skincare products:

Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Melting Cleanser // I should mention I've been all about using anti-aging products since I turned 20, and nine years later, I keep upping my product game. It totally melts your makeup off in no-time flat and leaves your skin feeling supple and soft.

C.O. Bigelow Dr. Galen Herbal Skin Tonic // Still my go-to toner that I feel has helped banish breakouts and neutralize my skin before applying serums and lotions. (last seen in this post)

Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate // Seriously hydrating eye cream that soaks in quickly after application and leaves your most delicate skin moisturized.

Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Vitamin-C Serum // I can't begin to say how much I enjoy this serum. It have vitamin-c that adds a brightening component, but also works to strengthen fragile skin and improve firmness and smoothness. In one word–love.

Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All-Day Moisture Defense Lotion with SPF 30 // The BEST daytime moisturizer I have found whose sunscreen does feel greasy on your skin. It's ultralight texture helps to hydrate my skin and also protect it from the sun's rays. Yes, please.

Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin-C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial // I used this at night, prior to my moisturizer, to help brighten my complexion and add a double-shot of moisture to my face. I then wake up with dewy skin that's ready for a new day!

Algenist Overnight Restorative Cream // Night creams can be tricky. You want to find one that's packed with nutrients that help restore your skin, but also it needs to hydrate your skin. This one is at the top of my list, as I've tried several and this one actually made my skin feel smooth, supple and hydrated.

As I said, I have dry skin and it's a constant balancing act of products for me. Warmer weather changes everything for me and I'll have to shift my products around, but I will always stick with a heavy duty night cream and serum to help get that extra boost of nutrients your skin needs. Have you adopted a new skincare regimen for the new year?

  2. I love reading about other peoples skincare routines and discovering new products! The Korres brightener sounds fantastic - I love the idea of applying overnight and waking up with a brighter tone.
