Midwest Fashion Week Recap | Friday Night

Yesterday we shared our looks from Friday night's Midwest Fashion Week event (see here) and today we're excited to share a recap from the night's amazing designers. Going to these events was truly a pleasure because we feel like fashion is more than just clothing –– it's an art form allowing both the designer and the wearer to express their personality, feelings and perspective on style. The glass backdrop of the Indianapolis Artsgarden was the perfect setting for a show, located right in the heart of Indy. Scroll through this post to see some of our favorite designs from the evening and check back tomorrow to see our style from the Saturday night finale.

Richard Hallmarq

While this is just a small portion of the hundreds of photos we took between the two nights, we felt most connected with the styles above. We were also excited to have the opportunity to meet designer Richard Hallmarq from season 11 of Project Runway! See you back here tomorrow for more Midwest Fashion Week fun!

Midwest Fashion Week | Crush on Blush Style

As you may have read in this post, we had the awesome opportunity to be the official bloggers of Midwest Fashion Week. We were so excited by this opportunity and have spent weeks pouring over what to wear and what events we would attend. We ended up choosing the Friday and Saturday night shows that featured some amazing designers, including couture menswear brand, Catou, and fashion from Project Runway's Richard Hallmarq and Samantha Black. Blush has been such a stand-out color this spring that we decided to revolve our choices around tones of blush, white and grey. Here are our ensembles for the Friday night show:

Kacie's Blush Style

As soon as we began planning our outfits for MFW events, I decided I should have one really springy outfit, and since pink is my all time favorite color, I knew I wanted something in this blushy shade. This Nordstrom dress has not only an adorable feminine shape but it is so soft and comfy. I completed this look with an amazing Baublebar statement necklace and some girly arm candy and voila –– MFW ready!

Jaime's Blush Style

I'm normally not one to steer toward pastels, but I'm loving blush this year–especially pieces like this moto jacket. I knew I had to wear this on one of the nights the moment I saw it. I was so excited when I got it and even more so when I realized how much I loved it with my favorite white bell skirt and grey t-shirt. Add a little sparkle and I was ready and excited for the show!

We'll have more posts later this week featuring our second MFW look of the weekend, as well as show recaps with some amazing designers! We know there have been a TON of fashion week's happening in cities around the country. Have any of you stylish ladies had the chance to attend any of the events? Tell us about your experience!

Spring Break-Up

Warm weather, salty sea air, tan skin and sunshine...sounds like a line straight out of a Luke Bryan song, right? Unfortunately as I've gotten older, I've had to break-up with the concept of spring break as I hoard my coveted vacation days for a later time. Therefore I'm sittin' pretty in the not-so suntan city (okay, that is a Luke Bryan lyric...kinda) of Indianapolis, Indiana–in March may I add–drooling over the sunny vacations spots that other bloggers have had the opportunity to visit. I think it's safe to say that this girl is green, not tan, with envy.

BUT, fear not friends, I still have spring break-esque picks for when the weather warms up. This brings me to my spring break must-haves for your upcoming vacation. While I normally can be found in a two-piece bikini (drink in hand) on the beach, I couldn't help but showcase this adorable polka dot one-piece bathing suit. It is dying to be worn and I think I might have to snatch up this cute number for my vacation I'm taking in December. (Ya, I have to wait that long. {sigh}) No vacation is complete without an adorably comfortable pair of flip flops and stylish cover up, too.

I don't know about you guys, but I spend my time on the beach catching up on my reading and always like to have a queue of books lined up. But my tablet is totally protected from the harsh sun and sand by a case, like this Kate Spade tablet cover. Cat eye sunglasses and a beach hat always make their debut through the day from time to time to give my face a break from the rays. Tie this look together with a brightly colored beach towel and a beach tote to store your sunscreen, water and other essentials.

My vacation seems so far away, but hopefully I'll be able to take some long weekends here and there throughout the year to break-up my office stircraziness. What about you guys? What vacations destinations are you planning on visiting this year?

What's In Your Bag? Midwest Fashion Week Edition

Fashion Week Bag Essentials

We are so excited to be the Official Bloggers of Midwest Fashion Week Spring 2015 and can't wait to attend some of the runway showcases this weekend. While we've been obsessing about what we'll wear, we have also been strategically thinking about what we need to bring.

Let's be honest here, your purse is often your lifeline and holds everything from lipstick to water bottles, gum and of course the staple of Advil or Ibuprofen. But what do you do when you need to downsize and opt for a smaller clutch or crossbody bag? You go into survival mode and get to the essentials.

While we won't go into detail on all of the items above, we do want to make special mention of a few. The Band Aid Friction Block is a life saver! It creates a barrier between your skin and the shoe to prevent rubbing and ultimately, blisters, yuck! Another must, an external battery pack. This magical device can charge any of your mobile devices on the go –– just don't forget to bring the charging cord as well! Lastly, how cute is this mini-emergency kit?! It has everything you might need and it all fits in a tiny little pack.

If you're in Indy and want to take part in Midwest Fashion Week, check out the exciting event schedule and buy tickets online!

Black, White & Spring Brights

Jacket: All The Rage Boutique (loving this) | Top: JC Penney (old) |
Denim: Old Navy | Shoes: Nine West | Bag: Aldo (similar) | Necklace: (old)

Yesterday Jaime shared her look from last week's Indy Bloggers Meetup at the Cake Bake Shop in Broad Ripple and now I'm sharing this spring-inspired look with you all. As you can see, it was beautiful day...

Talk about dreary, blah! While the temperatures we're up, the sun was not so I decided to brighten a basic black and white look with some bold colors. This fun necklace and pink military blazer were the perfect accompaniments to the tea-infused macaron and ginormous slice of sparkly cherry chip cake (seriously, see here) that I inhaled for dinner. Hope everyone is having a great week!
